I like this quote by Jimmy Dean: “I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.”

Life just happened to me this week. I was getting ready to have a teleseminar with Tammy Landau, the Product Creation Expert and Renegade Coach, when her computer decided to join its ancestors. This would have been OK if her brand new computer hadn’t ended in the “intensive care unit” and needed an operating system “transplant”. This put Tammy in a difficult position as all of her stuff is in digital format and therefore inaccessible without a computer.

What was I to do? If I was going ahead with the teleseminar on the original date it might not be as good as it could be. Tammy wouldn’t be able to access all her information to prepare for it. On the other hand a delay might be disappointing to some of the people that had signed up.

When I looked at the situation I realized what mattered the most to me and had been the goal all along. I wanted to give the participants a quality teleseminar and by delaying it by one week, giving Tammy time to recover, I could expect her to be able to deliver the quality material I have come to expect from her.

I had set out to do one thing and then the circumstances changed. Did this change mean that everything was lost? In the past I would have been devastated by a change like this and started thinking that everything was lost. With that negative mindset and the focus on “all is lost” the result would have been just that, everything lost (see my blog “Keep Your Eyes On Where You Want To Go”).

Instead I started to think about adjusting the sails and look for the opportunity in the situation. By delaying the teleseminar I can better guarantee the quality and maybe even get something extra for my listeners. Also, this will give me time to give more people the opportunity to benefit from this teleseminar. For Tammy this means that she can maintain her reputation as somebody that always delivers quality material.

By changing the way I approach the situation and looking for an opportunity in it everybody becomes a winner.

How will your life change if you adjust the sails to the changing wind in your life? How will looking for the opportunity in the changing wind help you live a Life of Abundance?

Love and peace,
