How many of you are hoping for something special on Valentine’s Day? The advertisement and stories surrounding this famous day tell us this is supposed to be the day of romance and love. It is on this day the love of our lives shows us how much they love us. Or is it?
How often does this special one live up to our expectations? For many this is just a day of disappointments, because what we had hoped for didn’t happen. In many ways the same goes for money. Our hopes go up and then they are trashed. Money doesn’t always live up to the expectation we have. It is this love/hate relationship so many have with money.
How does your relationship with money resemble your relationship with your loved one?

Love and peace,

Eleven months ago the year 2009 was just about to start. What were your intentions for 2009? Did you have any New Year’s resolutions? So many people make New Year’s resolutions and they start working on them in the New Year. Unfortunately the New Year soon becomes old and those resolutions fall by they wayside. If you did make resolutions or some kind of decision about changing things in your life, what were they and how has it been to accomplish them?

Even though quitting smoking and healthy living, like dieting and exercise, are the most popular resolutions or lifestyle decisions for the New Year, changing their money situation is something many underearners plan on doing. They all have different ideas about how to accomplish that. Often it has to do with keeping track of every cent they spend, not to overdraw their checking account and so on. Then there are those who are not going to let money ruin any more years of their lives and simply ignore money all together, with the mindset that it will all work itself out somehow.

Tackling the money problem is not easy, especially if you don’t change the way you view money. Having a love/hate relationship with money, where the hate is the dominating factor, is not going to be very helpful. Having negative feelings towards someone never results in a good relationship. I know that I would never like to stay with someone who had very negative feelings towards me. So it is no wonder money doesn’t stay. Would you? The the important part in getting out of this vicious cycle of underearning is to change your view of money. Then you can start moving toward a Life of Abundance in the New Year.

Love and peace,

This is a question I know very well, both personally and from my clients. As recovering underearners we all strive to get over this addiction of underearning. Yes, I said addiction. Underearning works like any other addiction. The problem with underearning compared to other addiction is that we can’t stop using money. It is a fact of life, so we better start acknowledging this. We need to change how we regard money.

The good thing is that we can choose what kind of a relationship we have with money. It is totally up to us. Up to now this relationship has been destructive, but now it can end. This might sound like a contradiction, but it isn’t. We can’t be constantly running away from money, which is the way the relationship has been. The reason we are running away is that we view money as a Monster we hate and it frightens us. So, the simple thing to do is to get rid of this Money Monster. Now we have created an empty space. We can decide to fill this space with a loving and caring Money, a true relationship partner instead of an adversary. It is a Money that adores us and believes in us. This relationship partner is perfect. This honey knows that we are resourceful, and that we can take care of our new Money Honey and ourselves.

By ending this bad relationship we have had with the Money Monster we end the stress it puts in our lives. Instead we are being smart and enjoying money. It is amazing what happens when we have a partner in our life that supports us.

This is what Financial Alchemy is all about. We get rid of the crap and pain that is the Monster and replace it with a loving Money Honey we truly deserve. With this new relationship we can live a Life of Abundance.

Love and peace,

They call it a rainy day fund, the money we set aside for a rainy day. Financial planners, advisers and all the people that are advising us on our money are always telling us that we need to put aside some money for the rainy days. The rainy days are the days when the car breaks down, the heating system stops working, or the recession hits you personally.

This is something that I experienced this year; all of these things have hit us, my family. It’s at this time I am so glad to have a fund for the rainy days. It is amazing how often these things happen in a group. No time to recoup in between.

When these series of incidents started to happen I was very fortunate to have started my rainy day fund some time ago. It started when I got a new relationship with money (see my previous blog “Magic of Money”). I got rid of the nasty Money monster and replaced him with a loving and caring Money honey. A Money that I wanted to have around me. It took some time to build it, but the rainy day fund is still here to take care of my family and me.

The relationship with Money is like all other relationships. To make them work one has to make some effort and of course first and foremost want to be in this relationship

If we do not want to be in the relationship and constantly try to run away from it, it is going to be dysfunctional. With a person we can walk away, but with Money on the other hand things are different. We are going to have Money in our life for better or worse. That is why I love my new relationship with my Money honey.

It is with this relationship that I was able to attract a rainy day fund that is taking care of my family during all of these rainy days we are experiencing. Life is so much more fun when we have money that we like with us and it will lead to a Life of Abundance.

Love and peace,

What is the magic behind money? That is a question many are asking themselves these days. A couple of years ago it seemed to be plenty of money to go around. Now, it seems to have disappeared. For many underearners it looked like the magic was never theirs in the first place. To them the situation is the same in boom times as it is in bust. Others are feeling the lack of credit is squashing the life out of them.

Money and Underearners do not seem to go together. If it were a relationship between two people we would know that it would be doomed. The problem is that we have to have a relationship with money as long as we live in the developed world. We might be able to have a great relationship with other people, like a loved one, but money is something totally different.

This is what I see around me and have experienced myself. As so many underearners I have wondered what the magic of money is, how to attract it and make it stay.

In my search for answers I found Morgana Rae and her Financial Alchemy. This was few years ago and last month I was lucky enough to interview her about her take on people and money.

Her take on this issue is very different from others. It is amazing how she deals with money. Where so many others have a very stressful, strained and at the best a love/hate relationship with money, she has a totally different relationship. Her relationship can be described in a lengthy paragraph or in one word, LOVE.

She has taken money and humanized it. For as she says: “I don’t know how to have a relationship with a thing or energy, but I do know how to have a relationship with a person.” By making money a person she can better understand the relationship and do something about it. Through her Financial Alchemy coaching she gets rid of the Money that we are having this strained relationship with. If the current Money is no good, we get rid of him/her (a person always has a gender) and by magic a loving, caring and affectionate Money Honey replaces the old money monster, the one we didn’t like or even wanted to have a relationship with.

When we have a loving relationship with money, magic happens. The magic that happens is that money wants to be with you, it is attracted to you, and you want to be with money. What comes out of this new relationship depends on what you want to put into it. By nurturing this new relationship you can start living a Life of Abundance.

Love and peace,
